What Window of the World Do I Want to Paint Today?
Chris Banks, Artist
There is so much beauty all around us on Cape Cod, from the picturesque landscapes to the simple elegance of everyday objects.
With my canvas, brush, and palette of paints, I try to capture it all. For more than 40 years, I have been both a student and teacher in oil, acrylic and watercolor.
With more than 100 workshops with artists from all over the country I continue to seek new ideas and techniques. As a teacher in both adult education and private classes I have attempted to share my knowledge and love of art with others.
As a member of the Guild of Harwich Artists, I served as director of the Art Gallery for eight years and am now president of the Guild. I am also director of Art in the Park, where guild artists display their works for sale each Monday through July and August at Doane Park in Harwich Port.
Working mostly in oils, my paintings, murals and prints from original works, can be viewed in the Gallery on this site. One project that was particularly fun to do was the mural I created near the Snow Goose & Buckie's Bakery in Harwich Port.

Chris's Learning Opportunities
My goal is to make beautiful scenes permanent by capturing their essence in my paintings.
On this farm was a beautiful horse that just watched me paint him in his lush setting. This farm was so animal/human friendly, while I was painting this horse, others were walking all around me. The warm summer day, the smell of hay and green grass, completed a great plein air experience.
Aww, the quieter times for cool refreshing weather rolling in and fall leaves changing. These breezes speak to me through the trees . A time when one goes strolling down the trail listening to the birds coming and going. The sounds of nature and the change in seasons brings joy to me.
